Fire Risk Policy

Please call 07555 636021 if you wish to discuss any fire safety matters with the Campsite owner


This policy summary is intended to ensure guests have a safe and enjoyable camping experience whilst at Primrose Smallholding. 


Adherence to these guidelines will help prevent fires and keep everyone safe 


  • Spacing: Maintain a minimum of 6 meters between all tents and all other structures. Avoid placing tents or structures within 6 meters of parked vehicles. 
  • Naked Flames: No naked flames (cookers, lamps, candles) are permitted in or near tents. Use torches or other forms of safe lighting. 
  • Cooking: Always cook away from flammable materials (e.g., dry grass, combustible materials). if cooking device is not elevated, use tin foil as a ground sheet to prevent combustion with dry grass.
  • Smoking: Smoking is prohibited within tents and other enclosed spaces. 
  • Gas: Store and use gas cylinders safely. Ensure they are switched off when not in use and never used in sleeping tents. 
  • Fireworks/Chinese Lanterns: No fireworks or Chinese lanterns are allowed. 
  • Campfires: Only use designated fire pits. Never leave campfires unattended. Ensure they are completely extinguished before leaving. 
  • Fire Safety Check: Always conduct a fire safety check before retiring at night. 


  • Emergency Contact: Know the location of nearest emergency contact (Site owner) and report any fire immediately. 
  • Fire Extinguishers: Familiarize yourself with the location of Fire Point which contains extinguishers and information how to use them. 
  • Evacuation: Know the campsite evacuation route and how to respond in case of a fire.   


  • Fire Points: Note and remember designated fire points on the campsite,
  • Firewood: If permitted, firewood should be stored safely and away from tents and other structures. 
  • Zero-Waste: All rubbish must be taken away by campers and visitors. 
  • Recycling: Utilize provided recycling facilities. 


  • Site Manager: Ensure all fire safety measures are in place and communicated to campers/guests and all visitors to site.
  • Campers: Follow all fire safety guidelines and report any safety concerns promptly.
  • All persons on site: Be aware of fire safety risks and take appropriate precautions.
